Regardless of your ability our Gap Year Programs will help you transform into the rider you have always wanted to be and challenge you with new adventures in the mountains. You will spend a life-changing season meeting new friends and ‘living the dream’ while experiencing Japanese culture in the Hakuba Valley.



MINI SEASON (5 WEEKS)


5 Weeks in Hakuba…

Get ready to become a well rounded and educated ‘Snow Pro’. This program is packed full of quality time on snow, so you can develop your riding and push yourself to the next level while you learn.

The 5 Week Mini Season is facilitated by an internationally recognized ISIA Instructor Trainer, who will give you the training needed to pass your Level 1 Instructor Certification AND the Avalanche Skills Training course… PLUS you will get the unique opportunity to take your knowledge into the field, so can get the experience needed to get a job in the ski industry, or tour safely with your friends in the backcountry.

Each week you will have 5 days of training provided and 2 days off, where you can go freeriding or come along on a cultural tour organised by Evergreen.

Week #3Ski School teaching experience & on snow shadowing (2 days). Avalanche Skills Training / Companion Rescue Skills (3 days) course and assessment
Week #4Ski school teaching experience & teaching pedagogy clinics
Week #5All Mountain Shred Sessions! Rider improvement & technique clinics

GAME CHANGER (10 WEEKS)


10 Weeks in Hakuba…

10 weeks and it’s all about you! Nail your instructor certification AND the Avalanche Skills Training course… THEN get the unique opportunity to take your knowledge into the field. Choose between taking an instructor focused pathway OR a backcountry focused pathway, so you have the final call on where you end up on this adventure of yours.

You will get the experience needed for that job in the ski industry plus the skills and experience to make informed decisions and risk assessments with your friends in the backcountry. Finally, we will step you through essential medical, search and rescue skills to get you and your crew out of trouble if the unexpected does happen.

You are about to become a well rounded and mountain educated ‘Snow Pro’. This program is packed full of quality time on snow, so you can develop your riding and push yourself to the next level while you learn. Each week you will have 5 days of training provided and 2 days off, where you can either go free-riding or come along on a cultural tour organised by Evergreen.

Our courses are delivered by internationally recognised, fully certified ISIA instructor trainers, avalanche and wilderness first aid professionals.

Level 2 Instructor Precourse. Shred the mountain. Lift the pace to level 2
Week #8Instructor Exams and on hill assessment
Week #9Crossover week! Assistant instructing days & choose a discipline to crossover into
Week #10Train your crossover discipline! Freestyle, Race Training, BC touring, Snowboard, Ski, Telemark

FINAL WEEK FOR BOTH PATHWAYS:
Closing day, on snow BBQ, PARTY. Make a video

Week #7Level 2 AST Precourse. Backcountry touring days to deepen your knowledge and experience
Week #8Level 2 AST Assessment days
Week #9Opportunity to shadow a guided group (???) Opportunity to complete an overnight BC tour
Week #10Crossover week! Train in another discipline: Freestyle, Racing, Snowboard, Ski, Telemark

FINAL WEEK FOR BOTH PATHWAYS:
