It’s simple… we are passionate about snowsports and mountain exploration and we want to pass that on to you. An integral part of our mission is about returning people to nature, setting up experiences and adventures that will become a part of your life so you too can remain connected with the natural world.
Located in Hakuba, Nagano Prefecture, Japan, we are experts in outdoor education and instructor certification, but what makes us unique is what we do outside of Evergreen Academy. We are an extension of the award winning Evergreen International Ski School, with our main base on Happo. We know what it takes to train excellent ski instructors – we do it all the time! We also operate the renowned Evergreen Backcountry Guides, right here in the Hakuba Valley, and we are the leading avalanche safety educators in the region, running multiple AST courses (Avalanche Skills Training) throughout the season for both locals and visitors.
Not only that, we run programs and activities year round including rafting, canyoning and more through our parent company Evergreen Outdoor Center. From an education perspective, this put us in a pretty unique position.

We can train you in the skills needed to develop your riding, teaching and backcountry awareness…and you will also get the opportunity to put this knowledge into practice in a context specific environment.
Not only will you achieve your Level 1, you will also get the chance to teach in our snowsports school, gaining the valuable experience that future employers will be looking for. If you are taking the Backcountry pathway, once you have finished your AST you will have the opportunity to take these skills into the backcountry for much needed practice to tour safely with the help of your certified guide.
